Claudia Johnson

In order to lead, you must also be able to follow. What do you know about follower skills?

Follower Skills, taught by Danette High, an emeritus missionary, will lead you on a journey to consider how the dance of leading and following flow. You will

  • Learn about teaming, the importance of framing, and the leader/follower flow.
  • Examine how the follower impacts team relationships.
  • Explore the need for mentoring, communicating, and encouraging.
  • Discover what happens in a leader/follower mismatch.

The course textbook, The Team that Jesus Built, by Janet Thompson, is provided as a PDF file within the course.

This course can be taken as a stand-alone, or as part of our Leadership Certificate Program, an affordable online program of nine courses created for Christian women who want to develop their leadership skills.

The Leadership Certificate Program focuses on three areas of study in three semesters of course work. Participants will take three four-week classes each semester, one from each area.

This is a timed four-week course. You can work through weekly assignments at your convenience. We will send a notice 2–3 days before the course ends and again when the four weeks have expired.

You should be able to complete all learning activities and assignments in three to five hours per week.

During the four weeks you are registered, you can access and view all the learning activities and assignments in the order they are presented.

As long as you maintain a profile on this site, you will have a personal online portfolio. While registered for this course, you can save files of your work and some of the course information in your portfolio. Throughout the course, we’ll send prompts asking if you want to save certain files. Be sure to save any files you may want to access later.

We recommend saving the course textbook PDF to your computer for your personal use.

Your leadership, personal, and ministry skills are enhanced by engagement with other women leaders. We give you the opportunity to interact with and receive online feedback from Christian Women’s Leadership Center (CWLC) leaders.  Through the forum, you will also participate with others taking the course.

When you finish this course, a CWLC facilitator will assign a score of “Complete” or “Incomplete.” A “Complete,” indicates you have completed and submitted all assignments and received satisfactory feedback from a CWLC facilitator.
